Church Remodel & Addition
To the Point: Remodel & addition to existing church campus
Location: Mesa, Arizona
Owner: Journey of Grace Church
Church communities deserve considerate architectural solutions.
Journey of Grace Church, affectionately called Mesa Naz, has been a community beacon in central Mesa since 1948. What began as a simple sanctuary building, grew to a four-building campus with a large central courtyard entry.
It had been more than 20 years since the courtyard was upgraded and it had fallen into disrepair with overgrown trees, bushes, and uneven, heaving concrete paving. Enter On Point to help the congregation re-envision this space as a warm, welcoming epicenter to their campus.
We created two attractive focal points with new covered entries at each of the main buildings. The courtyard was demolished and replaced with a sea of brand-new concrete pavers set in a striped pattern, juxtaposed to the softness of artificial turf spaces. Masonry wall seats, steel benches, and all new landscaping help to create meeting places for the Journey of Grace family. Now, the church community is looking forward to many weddings, celebrations, and Sunday morning services in their beautiful new space.
But that’s not all! On Point’s job was not just to re-envision the courtyard, but also to enliven the entire campus, reinventing existing mid-century modern into a new look and feel for 2020 and beyond. We created an entirely updated paint color scheme, chose a new shingle roof tile color, and created a custom, one-of-a-kind steel fence and entry gates.
The future is bright at Journey of Grace.
