Who knew a RV, boat and self-storage facility could be handsome? We did, of course! (And so did our client’s community!)
Every building has a special appearance, and this project presented interesting challenges because it needed to be cohesive with the Shrine of Santa Rita in the Desert on the National Register of Historic Places as its neighbor. As a result, we tinkered with a Mission Revival architectural style, and lo and behold, we have probably designed the finest-looking storage facility in the Southwest.
This fella isn’t just pretty on the outside: it also meets property zoning requirements. We had to coordinate design with a large gas utility company that crosses the property, which involved rewriting the easement to meet both the needs of the owner and the utility company.
On Point provided site design for this 15-acre facility, building elevation design with color selection, Design Review with Vail Preservation Society, and permits with Pima County. Currently in design, it is expected to be ready for the red carpet in late 2023.
Architectural fashionistas from the Preservation Society raved about the design:
“I really, really like the rendering of the future Success RV and Boat Storage! You really have done a wonderful job of designing a building that is in harmony with its site. I dare say that Vail will have the most handsome Storage Office anywhere! I truly appreciate the time and thought invested in this design! Let me know if there is anything I can do that will be helpful to the process or other information that would be helpful.”

Three really’s and three exclamation points! We’d agree that this is one handsome devil of a RV, Boat & Storage facility. Eat your hearts out, you plain ol’ metal buildings!
